5 Interior House Painting Tips to Make Class Apart

Interior House Painting Tips

Interior painting of your home can be an excellent way to breathe new life into the space and ensure it looks clean, fashionable and in line with your architectural style and decoration – no matter how old the home. Here Unistar Painting has compiled a list of some of the interior house painting tips and techniques that we follow whenever we’re on a project in Melbourne. Now you can get the perfect finish too.

Buy Quality Products

Using premium paints and good quality brushes and rollers is an excellent way to increase your chances of success. Not only will the paints go on to the wall smoother and the bristles won’t fall into the wet paint, you can also be confident that the paint itself will look its best for years to come.

Clean and prime the walls

This is a must-do part before you go on with professional house interior painting. Whether they are fresh walls that are being painted for the very first time or they have seen years of use (and multiple wallpaper changes), a quick sand, dust and wipe down is critical. An undercoat is required on new walls and on repairs. This will let the paint to stick to the surface properly. Two coats are needed to achieve the actual colour and sheen level.

Sand in-between Coats

This will ensure an ultra-smooth finish, as any bumps or dribbles that occurred during the previous coat will be wiped away. However, it’s important that you only sand when the paint is completely dry, and that you clean away the dust to remove any last particles that could create a grainy texture.

Trimming

Another great tip to ensure clean, crisp edges when interior house painting is to trim. Using painter’s tape, we recommend lining the edges of the skirting boards, architraves and windows – essentially, anywhere where one colour meets another, unless you use a professional trades person. This will keep the paints from mixing and stop you from accidently getting paint where you shouldn’t.

Hire a Professional Interior Painter

Hiring a professional interior painter is always a great idea. Interior house painting may seem easy at first glance, but it can quickly become overwhelming task once you start. Besides, the difference between the work of a professional and an amateur is quite easy to spot and can even devalue your home. Thus, for the perfect paint job, hire a professional. You can save time and money, and can enjoy an attractive finish for years to come.

Whilst there are definitely a number of ways to improve the appearance of your paint job, there is no doubt about it, if you want that perfect and long-lasting finish, you need to work with a professional interior painter.
